Intraoral Cameras

X-rays provide incredibly valuable information, but they don’t show us everything. Seasons Dental has invested in a highly advanced piece of diagnostic equipment called an intraoral camera. These cameras aid the patient in seeing what we see.

Intraoral cameras are the about the size of a marker. Built in the camera is a light and the ability to zoom up to 115 times magnification or give you a video tour of your mouth. The images captured are displayed on the TV’s in the office so we can see problems such as plaque deposits, cracked teeth, broken fillings, and excessive wear.

Images we capture can be printed out or emailed to you.

The camera also possesses imaging fluorescence which aids in the diagnosis and treatment of caries.
This imaging fluorescence technology allows Dr. Bodily to detect decay, even in its earliest stages, which can often be missed by the eyes or by x-rays. The camera detects cavities on the teeth by shining a specific wavelength of harmless blue light onto the tooth surfaces and then processing the resulting fluorescent signal. Cavities are shown as red areas in the live video signal while healthy areas are displayed as bright green. The camera functions as a versatile working tool to optimize your dental treatment.

Seasons Dental believes the greatest benefit of the intraoral camera is it allows you, the patient, to be an active partner in your dental treatment. With a clear understanding of your dental conditions, you’ll be able to make treatment decisions with confidence.
