Intraoral Cameras

X-rays of teeth provide incredibly valuable information, but they don’t show us everything. At Seasons Dental, we want to make sure we cover all our bases and get an in-depth look at your teeth from every imaginable angle. The more we can see your teeth, the better we can know how if there are any problems that need to be addressed.

In keeping with our commitment to you and your dental health, we have invested in a highly advanced piece of diagnostic equipment called an intraoral camera. These cameras allow the patient to see what we see.

Intraoral cameras are about the size of a marker. Built into the camera are a light, and the ability to zoom up to 115 times magnification or give you a video tour of your mouth. The images captured can be displayed on monitors in the office.

We can see problems such as plaque deposits, cracked teeth, broken fillings, and excessive wear. The camera also possesses imaging fluorescence which aids in diagnosis and treatment of teeth. We can print out or email the images we capture to you.

This imaging fluorescence technology allows Dr. Bodily to detect decay, even in its earliest stages. Such decay can often be missed by the eyes or by x-rays.

The camera detects cavities on the teeth by shining a specific wavelength of harmless blue light onto the tooth surfaces and then processing the resulting fluorescent signal. Cavities are shown as red areas in the live video signal while healthy areas are displayed as bright green. The camera functions as a versatile working tool to optimize your dental treatment.

Seasons Dental believes the greatest benefit of the intraoral camera is it allows you, the patient, to be an active partner in your dental treatment. With a clear understanding of your dental conditions, you’ll be able to make treatment decisions with confidence.
