Digital Radiography

In the past, taking an x-ray meant exposure of a film packet, which took 5-10 minutes to develop. Advancements in technology have brought us a new and much-improved method for taking dental x-rays. This new method is called digital radiography.

Advantages of digital radiography

Compared to traditional x-rays, digital radiography has the following advantages:

  • Faster
  • Images can be viewed instantly
  • Up to 90% less radiation
  • Ability to enhance images to improve viewing
  • Electronically storing images for instant retrieval and ability to easily share information

with other doctors as needed.

  • Chemicals used in traditional development of x-rays don’t exist

How digital radiography works

A small sensor is connected directly to a computer in place of a film packet. With this new method, the sensor is simply moved from tooth to tooth. In the past, each film packet had to be removed and developed. The sensor requires a small amount of radiation in order to develop. In fact, the amount of radiation is reduced by up to 90%!

Digital x-rays allow us to make adjustments to the film, helping us better diagnose dental disease. The x-rays are stored on our computers, so we can easily access them in the future.

Digital radiography is a great advancement in the dental field that speeds up the amount of time you’re in the dental chair and helps us make an accurate and efficient diagnosis of your dental condition.

Intraoral Cameras

X-rays provide incredibly valuable information, but they don’t show us everything. Seasons Dental has invested in a highly advanced piece of diagnostic equipment called an intraoral camera. These cameras aid the patient in seeing what we see.

Intraoral cameras are about the size of a marker. There is a light built in the camera with the ability to zoom up to 115 times magnification, or to give you a video tour of your mouth. The images captured are displayed on the TVs in the office so we can see problems such as plaque deposits, cracked teeth, broken fillings, and excessive wear.

Images we capture can be printed out or emailed to you.

The camera also possesses imaging fluorescence which aids in the diagnosis and treatment of caries.

This imaging fluorescence technology allows Dr. Bodily to detect decay, even in its earliest stages, which can often be missed by the naked eyes or even by x-rays. The camera detects cavities on the teeth by shining a specific wavelength of harmless blue light onto the tooth surfaces and then processing the resulting fluorescent signal. Cavities are shown as red areas in the live video signal while healthy areas are displayed as bright green. The camera functions as a versatile working tool to optimize your dental treatment.

The greatest benefit of the intraoral camera is that it allows you, as the patient, to be an active partner in your dental treatment. With a clear understanding of your dental conditions, you’ll be able to make treatment decisions with confidence.

Paperless

Patients have electronic charts which enable immediate information access and integration. Treatment is coordinated more readily and insurance forms are filed through E-claims more efficiently. This charting method also dramatically reduces paper usage.

DentalVibe

DentalVibe® is a patented, award-winning multipurpose instrument designed to alleviate intraoral injection pain. It is a cordless, rechargeable, hand-held device that delivers soothing, pulsed, percussive micro-oscillations to the site where an injection is being administered. Its proprietary VibraPulse® technology gently stimulates the sensory receptors at the injection site, effectively closing the neural pain gate, blocking the pain of injections.

Benefits of the Dental Vibe

  1. Reduced Pain

You will truly experience “Pain-Less” Injections when you have to receive a dental shot for a procedure!

  1. Safe and Gentle

DentalVibe is gentle, fast, and safe. There are no pills to take, no gas to inhale, and no drowsy after-effects to worry about.

  1. Less Anesthetic

Studies and Research show DentalVibe causes a dissipation of the solution providing a faster, more profound anesthetic effect with less.

  1. Less Time

DentalVibe enables the clinician to deliver a standard injection in any area of the mouth, in 30 – 60 seconds on adults as well as children.

  1. DentalVibe is Great for Kids!

Nothing is scarier for kids than going to the dentist. Ideal for children, DentalVibe has child-sized tips and offers animal finger puppets, allowing children to enjoy their time more while having a procedure performed.

Laser

Lasers are used frequently in dentistry today and are becoming more and more important in a dental setting.

The benefits of using lasers in dentistry include:

  1. Faster Healing
  2. Less Bleeding
  3. Reduced Swelling

We gently sweep the laser beam over the area to be treated. The narrow beam only removes a specific number of cell layers on each pass, so we have precise control over the procedure.

Lasers can be used in a wide range of procedures, including:

  • Canker sore removal
  • Cosmetic gum recontouring
  • Lesion removal
  • Treatment of gum disease
  • Removal of excess gum tissue

Gum surgery

Dental lasers are an effective new technology that allows us to work faster and exercise more precise control over procedures. The result is faster healing and less pain for our patients.
